Ruben - Effie Ehrman Apartment House

Grandma and Grandpa had a kitchen that window faced back yard..almost right in front that covered was the well. Beyond maybe 20-30 feet? was a 1 bedroom apartment house part of I think as behind that was grandpa's wood working shop. I think but would have to ask Big Brother, mom and dad first married, my guess is they lived in that 1 bedroom place made for that reason a start. I think they did different for son's than a daughter. Only son's lived that apt for start...whereas think help to the husband..for uncle Ken it was grandpa getting him a job at railroad too.. and maybe some help them building a home.. close on Maples Rd they built. So when uncle Dick (Richard) was going to get married it time for daddy get out. So they started building a house on property of them next door, lived in basement to get out before house was completed. Uncle Dick and Elba got then the little apt one bedroom. Now this is more perceived as I was not born just remember bits pieces of chatter in family.

Now there was a great age difference really in great grandpa Robert Ehrman and his brother eldest son Nathan. Nathan wow did great farming cousin Shirley has lots documented and land he kept purchasing it seemed he did. My guess is that Nathan gave his little brother a 5 acre place. So I really don't have the history on this. Again different done with daughters than a son. If help given it maybe was work and of course all family helpped if close build. So lots still kinda unknown to find out.. they were mentioned in news papers the family chatter made news in town papers.

Local small town places had news papers on families to know what going on, remember Shirley having posted something about an individual sick in family and so and so went to help. This the local type news. I corrected Ancestry.. as they lived not in Fort Wayne, but in Decatur, Indiana Rural Route 1 a population of Decatur city 4,142 in 1900.

Are Car's Like Houses?

Why even ask such a thing. Well way back Grandma and Grandpa Ehrman drove an Osmobile anyway there were 2 big dealers really Chevrolet and Ford. Now my understanding was on these two.. upgrading like in a sub division for Bob when we purchased new he wanted me to get the lowest price model in a more expensive purchased of the models home. So you really got same good quality say in the building but pricing and name different.

Now funny my grandparents had to laugh really thinking about this am sure my siblings would remember this and never never ever had I seen it on any other vehicle did them do to their's. I guess to keep it clean.. they had over the faboric pastic clear fitted like shrink wrap neat not just loose at all them seats all covered in it. Now I don't remember anyone else driving one of them we did get a Buick think the station wagon Sky Lark was one...it was cool had windows up to see out that were tinted.. that the family car went to FL in for a vacation living on Red Oak. Yet daddy drove a Thunderbird then I think. That of course when we were older. That station wagon is what Chuck used for his rural paper route I would go with him on.. it was in an accident a 7 car pile up was. I was with him.. and not Chuck's fault at all... remember the insurance, and what ever caused the accident raining think, just made each person insurance pay for the one in front of them. The sky lark think called was white with a burgandy red tone color seat vinyl think type seats. In rural areas there were like small shop stores some had a single or 2 pump gas there would drop off a bail of papers to.. Chuck had to get out to throw them tied stacks out of the back of the vehicle. So I think we did not fit the typical truck deliveries of news paper. More about us doing that on sibling things as this more a Chuck extra job.. but thoughts of Cars and the way Bob was with houses you wonder if any meaning too, names cost who knows.
