General Family Lake Information

I am sure all my siblings have different memories than I do about the Lake places of family we went to.  I thought I would just have a category to mention different lakes and different sides of the family.  Sides of the family were kept separate.  The only time you would see both would be things l a funeral so, like my sister's son that passed away would both sides maybe have showed up.

Also, both places very different in the things we learned at both places.  Now Mom because she was home with her children, we went to her mothers place more than any.  On Daddy's side it was not his parents that had a place, but his brother.  Well his sister Phyllis had a place to but in Michigan, never went there as family.  So that was tied to the Buchan's

Now Mom's mother Esther's sister also had a lake place, but not brother Uncle Elmer, Aunt Marion, I believe was on a channel of Lake Wawasee in Indiana.  I remember only one time going there for a family gathering, even though as children we saw Aunt Marion.  Her husband as I recall was alcoholic and died from that want to say.  I can't even remember her married name.  I would need to see my cousin Ron's genealogy for that one.

So this will just be things and stories I remember from family lake visits.

Fear of Prophets - Mom's Graduation

This is really such a long story but Father wants it told.  We shall see just how He leads me, as I think there will be more posts about this subject.  You see it was planned trip for me all along..the Lord had a Prophet staying at their house coming for the church...plus Mom and Dad's ministers, friends in the Lord from Indiana I had never met.  Mom just had to have me there so planned way in future.  That is another story though.  Mom passed on Father's Day, half way my stay so was there for Daddy after for a week.

The desire of my mothers heart was to have at least one of her children stand and preach the gospel.  She was so looking forward to this Prophet, thought she would hear on one of her children.  I didn't even know I would be able to go as was in a bent over the knee cast from snapping my achillies tendon at the heel hard to repair.  Well day before we were to leave I think I got my fitted lower support brace to walk, they took that puppy off me  hahaa and I was able to go, my son Joshua went with me, Jeremy stayed home couldn't get time off work.

Now the reason I use the word graduation in passing, is because that is what my Daddy called it.  He however believing for a miracle.  Well we found out it was cancer before me going, very rare type I was told by AZ Doctors usually only found in children.  Yet on Mom's death certificate, don't think it says cancer at all, but she passed from aneurysm..she had a huge vein left side as I recall pelvis area, was told if had any more children she would die, so she just had six, she always said she wanted a dozen.  I told Mom when she told me that...I said Mom "when they all marry you will have your dozen"   hahaha

Well I was there many days before Prophet to show up, he of course was coming just for Friday, Saturday and maybe he did Sunday morning not sure he might have left that day, well he did leave mom and dads as in packed and left that morning taking things with him.  Well my sister Cheri just popped in with mom being down...she actually left before mom passing as I recall so was not at moms funeral that I recall.  I couldn't get around well, but mom just like her, here I was coming for her and she was all worried about me, yet so happy I made it.  During the first couple days she would manage to get out of bed a bit, sit in living room chair, remember one night I laid in loveseat right beside her.

I would just sit on the floor, she slept right side of bed, and we both were worshipers of the Lord.  I just played worship music praising the Lord the whole time there.  I did not go to the church to hear the Prophet, mom being bedridden couldn't either, so it was recorded for us, we listened together beside bed.  Loved his teaching, can't recall only one word comes to mind is "leaks" as in veggie?  Wow then first person called out was threatened with death warning, God was done with him, this was last chance.  Scared the crap out of me and that dude in mom's house.  Well he also called out my big brother in that, so heard the prophecy...now they keep that stuff usually, so might be time to listen again as I recall he got both...so more like a choice in his path is how I took it.  It brought back memory of another of God Prophets I heard who while in church was told he had made the unpardonable sin and God was taking him out.  That man died right there and then in that church.  So I was scared of Prophets of God...worse than my Daddy correction for sure.  Put fear in me.

The Lord however when I did go back home, had me praying for this Prophet, so only one ever prayed for till Matthew-Yeshua in flesh.

I did talk to the Prophet, he sat with me in living room telling me about his heart condition, and his family.  He also noticed over the fireplace mom had all six of us senior pictures, he asked me who Cheri was, pointed her out to me, never said another word about it.  Well daddy had asked him right away if he had a word about mom, daddy shared that with me, and the Prophet told him 3 was all he got from the Lord, but told daddy the death angels were here.  He said he didn't know if it meant 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 month, or 3 years.  She died 3 days.  Things I remember happening.

1. remember Chuck big brother, coming over reading scripture on left side of bed.  Remember won't look up you can if you want...remember him reading about bone marrow and also blood.

2.  remember woman from church sitting in there with me, told me she had anointed my mom just being led of the Lord had no clue as to doing that, but the Lord showed her later she had actually preformed the priestly anointing on her.  She was just so amazed.

3 remember my older sister Con, was only one wouldn't come, she told me she just couldn't had to pray at home, she did however come Fathers Day was there.

4 remember Cheri taking over care of mom, she did not like that Prophet in the house...she shut off praise music..and when she left, felt mom would pass grabbed a spoon of mothers out of hutch to take with her when she left Sunday early I think Fathers Day.

5 remember Chris, little brother, such the servants heart caring for sick he cared for me even and anointed me with oil for my cancer.  He would come and do bed pans for her just all that stuff.

6. remember Carey coming praying at foot of bed

Well think it was Saturday as I had listened to tape first thing or that night even as sent home immediately...well the Prophet came in the bedroom after I had already heard that tape and was praying at foot of mom's bed...Daddy on left side me sitting floor right side.  I think I had praise music on again, Cheri she was either sleeping or not there just not there.  That prophet came over put his hands on my head and prophesied over me.  Shocked and afraid I have no clue what he even had to say...and he left the room.  Well I asked Daddy then: "was it good?"  haha couldn't remember a word.  Daddy told me yes it was.  So mom did get the desire of her heart to hear the prophet over one of her children right there beside her bed.

I was there with Daddy for a week after.  The rest will maybe be in other stories, as lots happened heavenly signs I saw all kinds of stuff.

My son Joshua and some of the other grandchildren were pallbearers along with my brothers.   Daddy has place for both his wives beside him, plots.

Sickness and Children

This I did talk about and never posted or wrote training the boys with that book..actually had gad men then gov battle for possession of the computer sis got me and others with control. So a battle back and forth it was. My sister Cheryl snapped with her face recognition the picture I never put on my computer of these men. This was when I traveled down there following my brother Chris to make sure I would have a man to follow make sure I would get there to see what the heck was going on with my big sister as I could not get any questions answered regarding her, I needed to know myself being her closest friend and sister. So a battle back and forth my sis who wanted me off the drugs talking had flipped not listening as I was going to doctor about it.. and all the family did the same. I would have snapshots wake up with and did publish them later.. telling that book Matthew about them. Bob and I not separated then. She braided my hair that way even.. took snap sent to Bob as I stayed with her first, no more than 3 days with her or you stink. She did not even know how since Chris married as we both there for that, had no clue never went to that brother's house so close to all brother it was, no clue how to get there. Ask me had to take her shit gifts, didn't know even what he smoked and what beer he would drink those took him. Knowing this am sure maybe?? either that or Chris saying, when he was swollen up and found then cancer she wanted to see him, he went to Carey's house for her not to come to his house then even.

Sickness as children, we were made to stay in bed.. no out of bed to play.. and mom would take care of us. Usually these were stomach sickness throwing up, diarrhea, or just feeling like that not yet doing...and would usually have a big of a temp mom always checking by kissing out foreheads.. if super hot would take temp. These times the only times we were allowed to have soda pop. When sick you never drank water.. it was chips of ice a bit not much and see if keep down these first before moving on to next phase.. bread or toast. The soda pop I mentioned about in this story yaked about never wrote..but on several times after separated.. I asked people if they remember their mom's doing the same and what ever happened to this brand of pop. All said yes we remember and they had no clue what made it stop.

WARNING DO NOT BUY THE POP NOW OUT AGAIN

THE REASON IS BECAUSE IT SAYS "NEW" I DID GET A CASE AND HAVE DRUNK IT, SAVING SOME FOR TESTING..SHOULD AND THIS THE ONLY WAY I WILL BUY IT AGAIN AND HAVE IT TESTED.. Sleeping Arrangements 4 6

Sleeping Arrangements For Six Children

The homes we lived in were really 3 bedroom homes, now the one next to grandpa and grandma Ehrman not sure think the laundry remained in the basement in that house. I only remember 2 bedrooms upstairs will have to ask big brother. It was fast really when new babies came so like 15 months or so that youngest was moved to a bed. For us girls I remember the most obviously. Always 2 double beds in a bedroom we had. Cheryl always sleeping with me only. I never at that young remember the part living in the basement. I think I was in a crib down there. I remember once upstairs done that basement being like winter play room..our tricycles even down there to ride, and of course rainy days be there to play too...besides our bedroom. So more outside type play in basement I remember.

Even in Anderson it was a three bedroom house, for 8 of us. Connie got her own room when we moved to Red Oak Dr...yet left Cheryl and I in one bed, a room big enough for 2 twin beds, and got us new furniture. French provencial rings bell haver to look. Yep this is it..we had no canopy and no tall bedposts that I remember, but the gold on yes nothing fancy on the front..but a double bed, the little desk with no shelves, and a double dresser you can see part of. An off white but white with the gold on those shaped edges on the corners. Same type drawer handles even.

The weird part, not even mom and dad ever got a new bedroom suit, no one in our family ever got one. Aunt Elba even to make mom's furniture new recover it for her. So again family help in things. Aunt Elba when I got married helped part time in a school kitchen and got the large size receipts even for my wedding haha them all making food.

You think about children and heck want to sleep here there everywhere. Never do I remember Cheryl sleeping with Con or me after Cheryl with me. Even at the lake Adams Lake make us sleep together. lots of beds. I think about this and think weird you remember. Especially cause them not ones to do for ones and not the others, so why? Could have just got new mattresses. I of course got Con's room when she married, so had it my senior year. Con a very young school starter made before cut off date.. me having to wait a year cause late in year.

Type Child I was with questions

You don't understand even type child I was with questions to parents.  How many children go to daddy... and say daddy: how can you come home from work and spank us?  You were not here.  Well Daddy always honest with me when I wanted to know and understand something.  Well he told me it was easy...he said when you come home from work with a wife that upset and you caused it...I am gonna fix it...and when I do...that hole thing disappears from her.  Things back to normal.

Well heck hardly a woman stays home with their children...they let others raise them and do who knows what to.  I feel the worst on that one where J is concerned the most, as his desire and waited he did to marry was to have a woman that would stay home and raise their children.  He also wanted her educated with a degree should anything happen to him, am sure he maybe tried to get that done even him paying for but no happen is my guess.   He did not get that even though no need for that woman to work.  Abuse came from even word and what do?  Still put children with sitter...so maybe she felt not capable of raising them in a good way who knows.  When you work, you let children get away with lots more as you don't see them that much...so don't have to deal with them.

Oh happy days....no not the Fonz

2 Edgewater Dr, Fort Wayne, IN

Well many things happened at Edgewater, as we lived there 5 years.  I was in 5th grade at that house...starting there.  Now they didn't have school buses for us to get to school...so we took town transit type bus as I recall, certainly not them yellow school buses.

Our seating arrangement at the kitchen table was boys in order down the right hand side of daddy.  Now for the girls, I sat on daddy's left hand, I think mainly because I both wanted to be there but also my two sisters were more afraid of him.  I want to say Con sat then next to me, just remembering from her sitting there asking for her first date, she was beside me.

Back to 5th grade though, I had a German/American teacher a man.  He used to say my last name was pronounced will use phonetics as sound "Ekman"  Not Ehrman.  He also accused me of being a day dreamer.  Now I have no clue on that one...just would say it to me.  Now you just tend to remember strange things stated especially to a full classroom about you.  So the man was telling me I guess that I was German not Swiss.  Well the Swiss did speak German, lots did.

We also had a park Lakeside Park close to our house, we were put in summer programs there, also did Ice skating there in the winter.  So Cheri I think and I did do tennis, don't remember if Con tried that one.  Also took classes for knitting, and different other projects...embroidery things like that.

I think it was pretty young at this house that my sister Cheri caught on fire..by the stove.  I also was in the kitchen when she yelled... I ran over and started beating with my hands on her chest to put the fire out.  She would tease me after that and say that was why she was not large chested  hahaha.

Of course you remember the strange things, us girls usually did KP duty cleaning the kitchen.  Well mom was also training the boys...and what I remember as we had a half bath right there at kitchen.. is Carey would always have to go to the bathroom and sit there how ever long it took so he didn't have to do KP.  He would get big indents ring around his bottom...don't remember how we found that out but another joke about it with us girls.

Just some funny things you remember.

Edgewater Dr, Fort Wayne, IN

When we moved back to Fort Wayne, I was in 5th grade.  Now Dad and Mom's families all lived South end of town more...it was the river that pretty much divided these things.  They were the first upon returning to move North of the river.  It was an older home with a huge front porch, two story with a basement, 4 bedrooms one very small single bed did fit..big brothers room.

Being back, we were once again put back into private Missouri Synod Lutheran Schools, we went to Holy Cross Lutheran.  Now at these schools there was correction, you got spankings if acting up in classes.  There were always two people present...usually a woman and man...man did paddling.  I did get some, not many found out more like home I did.

Well our family all sat down together for dinner in evenings.  There was a sitting order, boys on one side of the table Daddy's right side, and girls on left side of the table.  Boys sat in order age, girls however didn't as well my sisters more afraid of dad? either that or it was just cause I was a Daddies girl and wanted to be there don't know which but that is how sit.. myself, Connie, then Cheri at Edgewater I think.  We were taught very young to eat, but if you didn't want it you could go hungry, and sit there and be last to leave the table... no play or send room for our family...and no extra food later.  Peanut butter and jelly always on table too for mainly growing boys, enough for all helping, but if want more ate that extra.

Now dinner would be conversation time too.  We did have a city park close Lakeside Park, nice it had tennis courts, a big pond that was ice skating in winter, a nice park.  Directly across the street from us was an older park like..had basketball court and baseball backstop the rest field as I recall then the big bank to go over other side the river.  We played there more than anything, would even with the neighborhood kids play big jump rope a person at each end...learned to do with double people in and out you go.  We also would sometimes have dodge ball, now that also was in school too, and play baseball too not at often did girls play.

When forced to stay inside with weather we either played upstairs was the girls stuff in our rooms, boys more basement type toys down there.  I remember the boys sometimes playing with us, little brothers, they would be butlers and things like that.

Remember also having chameleons and keeping them in a shoe box with a screen bent over the edges to keep them in when not playing with the.  We used to put some jelly on big flat concrete top of porch end post and draw flies to watch them eat.  Fun to put them on different color things see how fast they change color.  They get confused multi color.

We all got a new pair of shoes for school starting.  I was the hard one to fit, so wasn't as fun for me.  I had double A foot and triple A heels... so could only get white gym shoes, and couldn't do penny loafers so not fun...did finally get a pair though anyway they let me.  I was old enough to go shag balls for Daddy when he went out to practice golf...so would try to go any time I could just to be with Daddy.  He taught us how to shoot at river, had a pellet rifle type air pump gun to teach us..I think I was only girl to do that though so more powerful than a bb gun...depended on how many pumps of air you put in it.

Our first Christmas there I think was the big Christmas as Mom's brother Uncle Steve worked at Koehlinger's think called, a lock smith but they had Schwinn bikes sold too...so got them at his cost, so there were 5 of them lined up in the living room in front of the tree that year.  So we then had bikes to ride.  We had learned it before, living next to grandpa and grandma Ehrman, very young started that, mom had old girls bike, we couldn't sit seat of course but could get between and stand to try ride.  Did that in yard.

There were several boys and girls that hung out at the park across the street, so got to know a lot of the kids that lived around.  The boys would come over to our house a lot of times to talk to us girls..

Now that was the house we lived in when we received the Lord actually.  I wrote about that on another post I think, Daddy had met him and took family to Full Gospel Church wrote it here as he did come to our house.

Living On Longwood list

Lots happened in that year we were in Anderson.  Cheri and I were ones usually together, Con stay home with mom I think most the time.  We were more adventurist type.  We would make up words her and I, like don't remember when we called rain and thunder storms "boom buck shee's"  haha  of course Con would find out too just being sister, but it was Cheri and I that I think came up with these type things.

I asked Cheri even the names of these people she remembered but blocked from me as I type...remember her name being Joy I think and her husband was a dentist.  I remember from Daddy it was that man, that put all these fillings in his teeth..why called "pin head"  spot..nothing growing just spot.

Gay Dehorty, another neighbor, her husband don't remember name but he was semi driver as I recall.  Mom talked to Gay a lot too.  Now it was her yard we learned to play "steal the flag" as children.  Neighborhood get together there have teams play.  Think we used a ball bat for flag, can't remember.

Remember Mom being leader I think of girl scouts Con was in and Cheri and I being Brownies.

We learned games from them, the boys neighborhood, Cheri and I part don't remember Con.  Truth, Dare, On the Roof Top was one and we played spin the bottle done on our back concrete porch past mstr bedroom area.

Remember Chuck getting beating from Daddy in basement I went down crying for Daddy not to spank don't remember why.  I remember Daddy lining us up for report cards as there was no spanking in public schools.  Daddy required C or better from his children.  Remember one time lined up I put a book in my butt  haha  probably got it worse then..but am sure made Daddy laugh later about it.

Remember Chuck getting abused on school bus by kid in neighborhood don't remember name.  Remember him getting into fight with him at drop off and mom running down there with us following of course and rooting and cheering him on to beat the crap out of that kid.  Caused a major neighborhood watch see.  I think Chuck won.

I remember, think might have been just Cheri and I that actually did this, not sure Con again, but think meteor shower was going to happen, we wanted to sleep outdoors to watch it..used them lounge chairs that open to like bed, no tent or nothing but think Cookie our beagle was out with us for the night.  We watched the heavens.

Remember, even though Daddy couldn't get me horse which I had asked him for on 4th and Madison, told me he couldn't get me one, as couldn't do for all children, needed to keep same, so he took me to friends, or work buddies to ride and learn.  On that note remember again Cheri and I not sure Con, but had a friend that had ponies...we wanted to try to ride..we made even out of yarn a chain stitch to try to make halter things like that...to catch them ponies.  We used to walk up to riding stable to together watch English saddle training classes going on.

Remember daddy got hole in one at that golf course accross from us and getting wood ash tray with ball glued to it.  Remember him being paid from work with silver dollars.

This is most of my memories from that year in Anderson, IN.  I did find it interesting that my first job, following sister Con was first there, Cousins Jewelers in Ft. Wayne, IN was owned by Jews main office think was Anderson, IN.

Longwood and Public Schools Anderson, IN

Anderson will have several posts, even though we were not there long, we did different things and learned different type games.  Why?  Public Schools there.  I hated their school systems, but they were public schools we went to there.  Glad we didn't live long there.

We moved to Longwood and our house was like you turn in and could see it right away top hill.  We had view because of that, no trees in your way, road there...you could see the golf course across main street don't know name.  It was just a three bedroom house for the eight of us, but big rooms.  So us girls had 2 double beds in our room.  Boys room was a bit smaller, mom did tend to give the girls bigger rooms and don't know if that was difference in type toys or what.  We had dolls and kitchen stuff you know, most their stuff was outside, or basement, to run those metal Tonka trucks with you were not allowed to do that in only other room there was a living room.

Now that school I went to there, they wanted to put me on drugs.  Mom did do it for a very short time, well with my children, said forget it  haha  but anyway she took me off cause she did not like what she saw.  So that was me and Anderson schools.  Never did they say that stuff at private schools never. They used the paddle, correction in school...like Daddy.

Through I think though, not sure but think this was tied to public stuff ... Mom did put us girls in girl scouts and brownies.  Cheri and I always somehow ended up together, Con always ahead don't know age or what?  I don't remember at all being in those in Ft Wayne before moving there.  So Cheri and I often did things together, and Con didn't want to do always.  Cheri and I more adventurous, Con more stay home with Mom.

Cheri and I would go up walk, to a riding stable to watch, don't remember Con going with us on that but hey Cheri may think different don't know.  Anyway they did different type riding there, English saddles and riding.  So we would watch them go up and down  lol

There was also park close by at that house too, remember walking there, and had a friend think from school, can't remember name but they had ponies  haha

Just lots of memories with that year maybe too cause of the trauma  lol

Well since a lot about school...well only place I remember Daddy lining us up with report cards and getting woopins as they didn't do that in their schools... and Daddy was not that hard on us, wanted C or better no D or F...all his children were at minimum average.  One time knew I was going to get it lined up there and put a book in my butt  hahaha  well am sure made it worse, but know must have made Daddy laugh later about it.

Move To Anderson

I want to say I was in might have left part of 2nd not sure..3rd grade was there...we rented a house on corner of 4th and Madison.  There was an old lady next door, tons of cats we used to mess with.  Cheri and I went to one school, and Chuck and Con went to a different I think, as I remember they walked a different direction than Cheri and I.  Chuck hated to have to have Connie walk with him remember that.  Now Cheri and I would have fun walking.  Song pops in head we used to do walking see if can find.  Can't find song remember we used to use the Wizard of OZ start off for it Dorothy did singing.. Lyrics:

high ho  high ho, off to school we go, we learn some junk, and then we flunk, high ho, high ho, high ho

So we might have made it up we were good at that stuff  lol

Anyway well I, but think Cheri did too absolutely love this black and white collie at a rich dudes seemed like house...we always looked for that dog to be out.

I hated that school, they picked on me with reading, I hate to this day to read out loud and they always made me there...only school did that to me.

Well that place we lived in had an attic, they left stuff in it!!  we used to get into that stuff, also that place had a basement with a piano in it..  We used to play think called chop sticks.. can find the simple one but we had added to ours...also there was another one with chords we did and we played these with 2 people at keyboard... so didn't see what we used to do.

The lady next door we used to even dress those kittens in cloths  hahaha

Don't remember how long at that house, could have finished 3rd grade at Longwood when we moved there.  Lived there a year or so as I was in 5th grade or part of it back in Ft Wayne again.

Will talk about some of the adventures and different games etc we learned there on another post.

Bethlehem and Tap Dance

Being a bit older, I remember us changing schools, I don't however know why it happened.  Maybe Trinity just stopped having school?  For some reason I want to say that was not the case, only reason I say that, is because I think my other Ehrman cousins still might have continued to go to Trinity.  I am not sure of this.  We however were moved to my mothers, mothers church Bethlehem.  So we went to Bethlehem until we moved to Anderson Indiana.

Well memories at this age again with us girls, all three of us was Mom had us all in tap dancing.  We of course practiced in the basement.  Mom would come down and work with us, putting the records on and helping to teach.  I remember preparing for a recital I think...it also included the use of a cane (stick).

Well the moves included tapping around in a circle around the cane...we also did cane over head and different dance steps.  Most of the tap steps were the "shuffle ball change"  "heel toe" "shuffle ball change"  So trying to get speed really for this not here to learn..just show how done a video!!

Stand Up

I actually remember more than I thought I would for these years...as my baby brother born 1956 I think can't look of course as I have been shut down on ancestry.  I remember Mom bathing him at the kitchen sink, so he was little.  I remember her singing to him after dressing him and stand him up on that kitchen counter and sing "Stand Up Stand Up for Jesus"  Well everyone knew Him by that name me too till reticently...but when you find truth you don't go backwards.  She also did something funny to me with him, she would brush his baby hair up standing it up top his head...and roll it around her finger and make it look like a mow hawk ...so he had this line top head with that rolled.  Funny...don't even know if there is a pic of such thing but boy do I remember it.

The desire of Mom's heart was to have a child that would preach the Gospel.  So this was a known song by all the family and they would even sing it in church sometimes.  Believe me, I am the totally last person of her children she would ever think that possible of...only Daddy would feel such a way about me not Mom.

Perms, Quilting, Canning, and Plowing

My Mom just could do everything, a true jack of all trades.  She used to give her Grandmother Perms and of course go down to quilting gatherings as there would be a group of them all working on the same quilt.  Of course they would gather to do canning and different things.  Team sports you know  haha  and that is actually how Mom would even get canned goods as we had no garden...to small a lot I think.  Grandpa Eherman did not have a farm, but enough to have an acre for planting maybe.

Well I don't remember much at Great Grandma Thompson's quilting and hair things,  and we would have to take naps there...so upstairs we would go.  Well remember the feather bed, and a fireplace in the bedrooms.  I remember Grandpa would take us out to see chickens they raised and I think corn, as I remember the huge high fenced like so air would get in to dry corn, full of corn close by.

I remember the hand pump for well water at the kitchen sink...plus the big one out back.  At a young age I remember staying with Grandma and her sitting with me out closer to that out back pump was a sitting bench, no back on it, but a tree right there close.  Want to say that that is where the cherry's came from that she sat there and taught me how to pit cherry's.  Well she was really fast at it  hahaha and used a bobby pin, so gave me one and taught me how to do this.  I am sure I didn't get many pitted, but did learn.

On the quilting just remember it being Mom, Grandma her mother, Aunt Marion, Grandma's sister, and Great Grandma.  Well Mom took care of all their hair needs  haha  remember even going over to Aunt Marion's, so Mom could give her a perm.  Aunt Marion oh we just loved it, as she worked at the candy factory, of course I was older with that, but loved she would get us 5 lb boxes of turtles.  Carmel and nuts they were great.

Mom used to tell us stories, about when she was a child at her grandparents, she just used to love riding the plow horses...well she didn't really go riding of course. Her Grandpa would allow her to sit on them when he was in the field working with them  hahaha  So mom plowed fields as a child  haha

Mom might have told me because I had a love for horses and tied to that, a story my Grandma, her mother, would tell about me over and over.  As I asked my Grandma to draw me a horse.  Well hearing her tell it over and over too as she thought it so funny, I said to her, no Grandma that isn't a horse, that is a cow.  Well she thought she made a great horse I guess.  Remember spending the night with her, Mom maybe having more children who knows..but I slept with her.  And just like at home hearing all the time for most my life from Mom too,  "Be Still" and she would touch me and say that over and over  hahaha

Even in church I had to sit by or between Dad and Mom, the reaching over touching me meant Be Still  haha  as even with my legs crossed sitting that foot would just go bouncing.  I remember sometimes being on one side of Mom and she would make me move to by Daddy as i wouldn't sit still.  Well of course you start recognizing signals of different touches.  Heightened, don't know what I want to call it but an awareness of peoples reactions it kind of built into me.  Maybe it was things I would do then testing others I don't know.

I am sure looking at all my childhood even little like this, all played a part in why Daddy said to me that he thought I would never get married, as I would not submit to any man.

Tree Climbing and Kindergarten

Grandma and Grandpa Ehrman, living next door to us, we were not allowed to bug them all the time, they had an apple tree in their back yard, I forget the kind, it wasn't sweet apples not something you would pick and eat. Grandma used to make apple butter with them. Us kids got to climb that tree to pick apples for her. Branches were low enough on it to do that.

Now we had a tree at our house to learn to climb on...it was side so back door really on other side of driveway as I recall, so Mom could watch us play from kitchen window out there. Only one I can remember ever falling out of that tree was my little brother Chris, think it was the tree, he broke his collar bone I want to say I am not sure of that though, he would remember for sure.

Then remember being in kindergarten at Trinity Lutheran school. My brother and sister went there too. I think kindergarten was just half days back then. Why it stands out is the way they do things now, they make children go I think full days. Well we went half I think and funny thing about the memory I have regarding that, is that we children in class all had I believe it was a towel, had to lay it out on floor and we all had a time to lay down and rest. Now that was half day I recall, so interesting I remember that little nap we had to take in that class. Wasn't to go to sleep I don't think, was more a break, and maybe that could have been weather I don't know, just remember the nap.

Family Chickenpox

Well, I started my morning posting on other sites don't have them listed or book marked on this new computer those in my family have the list I was also given several songs this morning.  Decided then to look for  Ehrmann family Coat of Arms with a link to that.  We however dropped one of the "n" on the end..not all siblings of Grandpa Ehrman did this.  Well you just have to add it to background then  haha  with a link to info.  Our family was from Switzerland paternal side.  According to a cousin I worked with in church records..he said our family was there from the beginning now I don't know what he meant by that the records only went back to like 1600...He however born raised there.  We ended up being even distant related on a few different lines.

My next memory as a child is everyone being sick  haha  poor mom, like 3 of us all came down with chickenpox I think...maybe 4 of us.  All same day...well that is what Daddy came home to  I think she was even crying.  Well I think back then if someone had those things you went to expose your children to it..that and mumps as they are bad to get as adults.  I mean this was much worse than a bad hair day with all these itching children.

As fast as my mom had children she could have been PG too...us 3 girls were like 15 months apart.  Once she would stop nursing she would get PG again.  She said that would stop at biting  lol  Well us 3 girls must have been biters hahaha

I want to say the house of course was finished way before that...I do remember I think mom even laid that kitchen tile or helped...but upstairs I think just 2 big rooms not sure on boys but on us 3 girls all slept same room. 2 double beds in it and a closet we used to play in went full length with a door at each end as i recall.

Cheri and I always slept together, Con always alone.  Boys I think were all together just not sure Chuck.  Well just had to see if there was a song for children that played in the closet but don't see one.

First Memory Falling

Well you know the Lord has shown up when you hear howling of the wind through your window...and this I did in the kitchen.  On this site, I know from even talking with my sister as she would ask me if I remembered a particular thing...and I would say no I don't remember that.  So with six children all being raised in the same household, all have different memories that stand out to them...things they just won't forget.  So this is just my memories, don't know my siblings will even remember these things.  I will try to stay from the beginning but can't guarantee anything, as you do as led of the Lord.

Well Dad and Mom I believe met each other through families on both sides living close.  Just up the road from my Dad was a farm he had permission to hunt on, well it happened to be my Mom's side of the family.  So I believe that is how they met.  My Mom got PG, so her and Daddy got married.  Well Daddy's parents had some land..so Grandpa gave them a piece of it to build a house.  They lived in the basement once finished as construction continued.  I believe not sure of this but on the other side of Grandpa was a family call Johnson's, he had a business and I believe Daddy worked there, I know he did just not sure of the dates.  Now Grandpa worked for the railroad which according to my husbands mother those were very hard to get jobs.

I think Daddy and Mom could have even met through church...the reason I say that is because Mom's grandparents are buried at that same church we went too...Ehrman's that is ... yep found the grave site for you...so this could have been how also.  Thompson graves Trinity Lutheran Church

My first memory I believe I was pretty young, reason bringing it up first is because don't remember many children at this...my big brother was there for sure.  Daddy had us down at Grandpa Thompson's, Mom's side and hunt and we were in the barn  Grandpa I believe raised corn and had chickens, the Thompson ancestors grave yard also on that farm I believe.  Well he had hay stored up top with ladders to climb to get to them.  Also had a I want to call it a corn maybe picking?  not sure just something to do with corn and metal stored on the floor of the barn.  Well my big brother climbed up a ways on the ladder then moved to using the bail strings to climb the rest of the way.  I wanted to do the same so did the same thing.  I fell using bail strings and hit my head on that corn thing cracking back of my head open.  I remember being in the hospital in an oxygen tent...then remember once home Mom kept me on the couch so she could keep an eye on me.  Makes me think of the attacks on Josh at young age.

All Dad's family built homes close to his parents up on another road but Daddy was only one next door.  His brother had a house I think called Maples Road... Dad and Grandpa RR1 Decatur Rd.

So that is my first memory, I did get to watch tv being on that couch  haha remember that.
